Partnership funding delivers artist to the regions

Posted on: 22 July 2011

In conjunction with M&GSQ’s touring exhibition Metal As Anything: Ron McBurnie, we are pleased to be administering public program funding to each exhibiting venue on the tour. This has enabled artist Ron McBurnie to travel to regional venues to conduct floortalks, printmaking, drawing and watercolour workshops.

The organising venue Perc Tucker Regional Gallery successfully applied for the inaugural Regional Galleries Partnership Plan funding through Arts Queensland to develop this touring exhibition and wisely built in a public program budget to support the exhibition tour.

Ron has travelled from Townsville to Atherton and Gympie thus far and will be travelling next to Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery in August. Regional audiences have welcomed the opportunity to hear Ron speak about the exhibition, which spans six decades of his work, and have enjoyed fantastic access to this talented printmaker through practical workshops.

Recent workshops to complement Metal As Anything touring exhibition at Gympie Regional Gallery included a drawing and watercolour workshop on Saturday 11 June followed by an etching workshop on Sunday 12 June 2011.

This touring project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
